About Priority Waste
Priority Waste was founded in 2001 by Chris and Shelia Terdik with a simple idea: waste service shouldn’t be complicated.
No corporate runaround.
No missed pickups.
No guessing when your dumpster will arrive.
Just straightforward, dependable service from a local team that answers the phone and shows up when they say they will.
What started in Wilson, North Carolina has grown into a trusted regional operation serving both Eastern North Carolina and the Brunswick County coast through their Southport location. The growth didn’t happen by accident — it happened because contractors, homeowners, and industrial facilities needed a waste company they could rely on.
Locally Owned. Locally Operated. Personally Invested.
Priority Waste isn’t owned by a national chain headquartered three states away. Chris and Shelia still lead the company, and their name is on the line with every job.
Both the Wilson and Southport locations are locally operated with crews who understand the communities they serve — from industrial facilities in Eastern NC to coastal construction projects and storm cleanup along the Brunswick County shoreline.
When you call, you’re talking to people who know the area. And know the work.
Who We Serve
Whether it’s same-day dumpster delivery, dependable commercial service, or large-scale debris removal, the mission is always the same — keep your project moving, keep your site clean, and keep your operation running without unnecessary delays or disruptions.
Contractors
Deadlines don’t wait — and neither do we. From new builds to demolition projects, Priority Waste delivers dumpsters and service when your crew needs it. Fast drop-offs. Reliable pickups. No jobsite slowdowns.
Homeowners
Whether you’re clearing out years of clutter or remodeling your home, we make disposal simple. We drop it off, you fill it up, we haul it away — same-day service available when you need it most.
Industrial Faciliteis
When operations stop, it costs money. Our dependable commercial waste solutions keep your facility clean, compliant, and running efficiently. Scheduled service, responsive support, and no unnecessary disruptions.
What “Priority” Really Means
When people think Priority Waste, we want them to think one thing: same-day, reliable, customer-focused service. That means showing up when promised, delivering quickly when projects can’t wait, treating customers like partners instead of account numbers, and solving problems instead of creating them. Waste service shouldn’t slow your job down — it should support it.
Showing Up When Promised
If we say we’ll be there, we’ll be there. Schedules matter on job sites and at facilities, and missed pickups cost time and money. Our team understands that reliability isn’t optional — it’s the baseline.
Delivering Quickly When Projects Can’t Wait
Some jobs can’t sit around for three days waiting on a dumpster. When timelines are tight, we move fast. Same-day service when available means your crew keeps working instead of standing around.
Treating Customers Like Partners, Not Account Numbers
You’re not calling a national call center — you’re working with a local team that knows your name and your project. We build long-term relationships by being responsive, flexible, and easy to work with.
Common Questions About Our Waste & Dumpster Services
Have a question about dumpster rentals or waste service? You’re not alone. Here are some of the most common questions we hear from contractors, homeowners, and businesses about scheduling service, delivery times, and what to expect when working with Priority Waste.
Does the Dumpster have a door?
Yes – All of our dumpsters come equipped with a convenient rear access door. The rear door swings all the way around and lies flat against the side of the dumpster when opened, allowing for easy and safe loading. The top of the dumpster is also completely open.
Do you offer residential curbside waste removal service?
At this time, we do not provide weekly residential curbside waste removal service. However, we’re more than happy to help homeowners with their remodeling, clean-up, or disposal needs through our convenient dumpster rentals.
How can I protect my driveway during dumpster delivery?
While we cannot guarantee your driveway will remain spotless, we do recommend placing two 4×8 sheets of plywood underneath the dumpster’s delivery spot. These can be made from scrap wood (with no screws or nails) and will help protect against scratching or dimpling. The wood will remain in place after we pick up the dumpster.
Please be aware we cannot guarantee your driveway will remain crack-free, as our trucks can weigh up to 30,000 lbs, and fully loaded, up to 54,000 lbs. If you’re worried, we suggest choosing our 10-yard container, which is significantly lighter. We are not liable for any damage to driveways.
Can the dumpster be placed on my front lawn?
Yes — but placing a dumpster on your lawn may cause marks, ruts, or other damage due to its heavy weight. Some jurisdictions prohibit placing dumpsters on grass, and there may be additional complications if we need to back over a curb. Please check with your local building department first. We are not liable for any damage to your lawn or curbing.
Do you service commercial compactors?
Yes — We service both our own compactors (leased to you) and customer-owned compactors as well.
What size dumpster can we use for dirt and concrete, and how much can we load into it?
We use 15-yard and 20-yard dumpsters for heavy materials like dirt, concrete and shingles. The dumpster should not be filled more than 1/2 full with heavy materials. Loading heavy materials alongside other debris may result in additional charges due to excess weight. Please call us for more details. Any overweight penalties due to overloading are the customer’s responsibility.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards. We can accept ACH and business checks after a credit application is completed and approved.
What types of heavy materials can be placed in the Dumpster?
Dirt, bricks, and other heavy materials may be placed in the container, but heavy material should fill no more than 1/2 of the dumpsters total volume. Our trucks are rated to carry up to 10 tons safely. If a container is overfilled, it is the customer’s responsibility to unload the excess. All overweight penalties will be passed along to the customer.
What materials can NOT be placed in the Dumpster?
Tires
Batteries
Asbestos
Propane tanks
Fluorescent tubes
Herbicides or pesticides
Paint and thinner (dry cans only)
Liquids, solvents, freon, or chemicals
Biohazard or medical waste
Equipment that contains gas or oil (such as lawnmowers or chainsaws)
White goods (refrigerators, stoves, etc)
Concrete should be placed in a separate container
Do I need to be on site when the Dumpster is delivered?
You do not have to be on site when the dumpster is delivered. If there is a specific spot you would like the dumpster placed, please disclose the location when you schedule the dumpster for delivery or mark the area with flags or another indicator.
What is required for Dumpster service?
Please keep the dumpster area clear and accessible. Make sure there are no vehicles blocking the dumpster, and all waste is safely contained within the dumpster with the rear gate closed. If the dumpster service cannot be completed due to inaccessibility or overloading, additional trip charges may apply.
How fast will my Dumpster service be after I call?
We provide same-day service if you call in the morning. If you call in the afternoon, we do our best to service your dumpster that day, but due to landfill hours, service may be scheduled for the following morning.
How much space is needed for a Dumpster?
It depends on the size of the dumpster you select.
For 12 and 15-yard containers, we need at least 30 feet of space, 10 feet in width, and 15 feet of overhead clearance.
For 20, 20 Compact and 30-yard dumpsters, we need at least 60 feet of space, 10 feet in width, and 25 feet of overhead clearance.
Where can I place the Dumpster?
Most clients choose to place their dumpster in their driveway. Please make sure your driveway is firm enough to handle the weight of the truck and the filled dumpster — heavy loads may cause damage. We can also place the dumpster on your lawn, but this may leave ruts or damage the grass.
Please make sure there’s at least 25 feet of overhead clearance for delivery, and be cautious of nearby trees, power lines, or other obstructions. We are not liable for any damage to driveways, curbs, walkways, overhanging limbs, or power lines.

Our customers count on us because we keep communication clear, respond when issues come up, and handle the work with urgency and professionalism. Whether it’s a contractor on a deadline, a homeowner in the middle of a cleanup, or a facility that needs dependable service, our focus stays the same — make the process easy, keep things moving, and be the kind of company people can count on again the next time they need help.
